Electric hoist is a lifting device used to lift and lower loads with the help of an electric motor. This hoist is used to lift heavy objects vertically by applying lifting force using a mechanical or hydraulic system.
Electric hoist usually consists of several important components:
Electric Motor: The electric motor is the main power source that provides energy to drive the hoist. This motor converts electrical energy into mechanical energy which is used to lift or lower loads.
Drum or Drum Gear: This is the rotating part in the hoist that serves as storage for the rope or chain. When the motor rotates, the drum moves and causes the rope or chain to be pulled or released.
Rope or Chain: Rope or chain is used to connect the load to the hoist. Loads are lifted or lowered by winding or unraveling ropes or chains from the drum.
Controls: Electric hoists are usually equipped with a control system that allows the user to control hoist operations, such as lifting, lowering or stopping the load. These controls can be physical buttons or a remote control.
Guards and Sensors: Many hoists are equipped with guards and safety sensors, such as upper and lower limit sensors to avoid over- or under-loads, as well as overlap prevention systems.
Electric hoists are widely used in various industries, such as construction, manufacturing, warehouse and facility maintenance. They enable the lifting of heavy or large loads more efficiently and safely than mere human effort. The hoist can be mounted on an overhead structure, such as a jib crane or bridge crane, or elsewhere as required.
